Top 3 Winter Travel Destinations

Whether you’re a moto tourist gearing up to see the sights from behind bars or an adrenaline junkie in search of new trails to tackle, leave cold weather and a garaged moto behind and head for warmer climates this winter! In this blog, we’ll highlight our must-hit destinations for winter riding in the US and beyond.

Arizona, USA

grand canyon motorcycle adventure

Welcome to the Grand Canyon state, where diverse landscapes and year-round sunshine make up a motorcyclist’s paradise. Arizona has a little something for every type of rider, and the state hosts countless motorcycle events, rental companies, and dealerships.

For moto tourists, we recommend a day trip from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon. The approximately 450-mile round-trip ride is an all-day adventure, with incredible scenery along the way and a pit stop in Flagstaff.

The iconic Route 66 is not to be missed, and it’s even more fun on two wheels. Vintage motorcycle lovers, in particular, will appreciate the nostalgia of classic diners and quirky shops along the way. Make sure to stop and stand on the corner in Winslow, Arizona (it’s “such a fine sight to see!”)

Off-road enthusiasts will love Boulders OHV recreation area in Maricopa County. Nestled in the scenic Upper Sonoran desert, this playground boasts more than 200 miles of unpaved country roads and singletrack trails perfect for off-road riders of every skill level.

California, USA

From the beach-lined stretches of the Pacific Coast Highway to the curving roads through Joshua Tree National Park, California is home to boundless motorcycle-friendly routes and destinations, and its warm winters are perfect for riders looking to escape the cold.

The state’s well-known PCH is a motorcyclist’s dream, thanks to breathtaking ocean views, sweeping curves, and long stretches of open road. Start in bustling downtown Santa Monica and ride north to relax and catch a sunset in Malibu.

Motorcycle riders flock to Joshua Tree National Park (left) for its arid, mountainous landscape, and the winding roads throughout the park are sure to excite motorcyclists who love a challenge. The area offers plenty of fun for more adventurous riders looking to stop along the way and take a hike, rock climb, or just enjoy the many scenic viewpoints.

Couples riding together will fall for the beautiful ride from Lake Berryessa to Napa Valley. Settle in for a relaxing and scenic ride through the Californian countryside as you head north from the lake toward Napa’s rolling hills and charming wineries. Once you’ve hit Napa Valley, treat yourself to a date night at one of the region’s famous wineries. You’ll find plenty of lodging options in Napa or Sonoma, where you can spend the night before continuing your journey.

Baja California, MX

For the most adventurous riders, Baja California, Mexico, is a bucket list motorcycle destination. Most well-known for extreme off-road races like the Baja 1000, Baja is a popular spot for dirt bike and ADV riders alike.

Baja Mexico 2.jpegNot to be confused with California, USA, Baja California is a 760-mile-long peninsula on the west coast of Mexico. To enter on a motorcycle, have your driver’s license, passport, and insurance paperwork.

You can travel the entire peninsula off- or on-road, though we recommend exploring on an adventure bike and camping at one of the area’s many campsites. If you’re not a fan of sleeping outdoors, you’ll find plenty of inexpensive hotels in the towns along Federal Hwy 1.

There are endless adventure rides in Baja, from beautiful beaches to stunning deserts. It’s worth visiting just for the traditional food — fuel your adventure with street tacos and fresh ceviche!
